Anyways, as you probably know, the Eagles will face first year head coach Jim Montgomery and the Denver Pioneers Saturday afternoon (3PM) @ the DCU Center in Worcester. The Eagles are the #1 seed in the Northeast regional while Denver is the fourth seed. Rounding out the bracket are Lowell (#2) and Minnesota State (#3). No matter the seeding, record, stats, history, etc, I think we learned in 2011 that every team in the NCAA tournament is a heck of a hockey team. Denver had to win their final four games to get into the tournament and they did just that, beating Nebraska Omaha (x2), Western Michigan, and finally Miami in the NCHC finals.
We'll go more in depth later this week but expect one or two lineup changes, starting with Matty Gaudreau getting back on the fourth line. I'll more updates tomorrow or Tuesday.
On the recruiting trail, watch out for recent Harvard decommit Brandon Fortunato. He is a 5'9 defenseman from North Hills, NY that has recorded 3 goals and 30 assists this season for the the US Under 18 team. A quick, fluent skating, intelligent defenseman that can quarterback a power play. Would be a great get but decision won't come until after the U18 World jr Tournament.
Go Eagles.
