Northeastern losing recruits.

Some of Northeastern's top incoming recruits are now backing out of the program due to the exit of former head coach Greg Cronin and his top assistant Albie O'Connell. NU has a couple of the top recruits in the country coming in such as Garrett Harr and Vinny Sapronari (former BU player). It will be interesting to see in the next couple weeks if the Huskies can find a coach quickly and that coach can hold on to the key recruits the young Huskies will have next year.

BU sends a couple high in the draft. Are they for real?.....NO.

OVERRATED !!!

Last year BU lost all four games to our Eagles, they missed the NCAA's, they didn't win the beanpot basically they didn't really do anything. If you go to BU blogs and college hockey websites you will read about how great Adam Clending, Matt Nieto, and Garrett Noonan are because they got drafted in the second and third rounds of the draft. I really do not believe any of these guys will be quality NHL players. I mean when you watch these guys do they really stand out to you?  I saw BU four times last year and I can say one thing, Adam Clending, Garrett Noonan, and Matt Nieto are not NHL prospects. I will give you Charlie Coyle, he could be the only player on BU that scares me. Garrett Noonan had 3 goals and 5 assist last year, you tell me are those great numbers? Yes he plays power play for BU but he doesn't have an NHL shot. A person in Hockey East that has an NHL shot would be Tommy Cross or Cam Atkinson. Let me ask you this question, who would you rather have on your team... Matt Nieto or Cam Atkinson (Who went 6th round last year), (Nieto went second round). When you watch BU next year, they will probably be good, but watch and see if the guys really stand out to you because when I watch they do not stand out to me.

Were almost there

We are just 3.5 months away from what should be another great year for the Boston College hockey team. I have started to realize the last couple days that this Eagle team could be better then people think. Yea people think BU will be the overpowering team this year. I say not so fast. Let me remind you that BU's last win over BC was at Frozen Fenway. Just over a year and a half ago. Who knows Jack Parkers magical runs at the Beanpot could be coming to an end as its been two yeas since BU has won. That may not seem like a while but trust me it is when you consider how dominant BU USED to be its pretty long. I do not except Hockey East to be a stellar conference like it has been the last couple years. I think BC, BU, Merrimack. and maybe UNH will be the four teams in contention all year. I did say earlier NU was going to be in the hunt but I think that Cronin's departure is huge for the Huntington Ave Huskies. NU will be tough this year as it always is, but I don't think that whoever there next coach is will be able to get them to be as ready as they were nigh in and night out (Unless of course a BC coach takes over) The Eagles schedule looks brutal at the start of the year, but it should be interesting to see how this young Eagle squad handles teams like North Dakota, Denver, UNH, and Northeastern. I don't know about you but I am so excited for this year to begin because I think this is the first year in a while that coach York's team is a little under the radar. Thats it for now, GO EAGLES

Note- The schedule should be out very soon, we have 70% of the games on the left hand side of the blog so make sure you take a look. There are many surprises.

Cronin leaves Northeastern for NHL

Greg Cronin has left his job as head coach at Northeastern to become the assistant coach for the Toronto Maple Leafs. The rumor that Cronin would leave has been in the making for a long time. It was reported in early April that Cronin would leave for the AHL but he said he intended to stay with the Huskies. It is very possible that Cronin was unhappy with the NU administration after they suspended him and assistant coach Albie O'Connell for a couple of key games at the end of they year. Sebastian Leplante will take over  as interim coach and will also be a candidate for the job. It should be noted that Leplante lead the Huskies to victories over BC and UNH while Cronin was suspended in late February. BC assistant coach Mike Cavanaugh could possibly be on the Huskies intrest list.
