Eagles post best game of the year to defeat Maine 5-1.

Tonight made it official to me, this BC team is loaded. Tonight's game vs Maine was the best game I have seen BC play since the game @ BU in early December of last year. BC was hitting on all cylinders all night, great games by Parker Milner, Chris Kreider (although the penalties are a problem), Barry Almedia, Kevin Hayes, and Steve Whitney among others. All around, there were no real problems for BC tonight. The defensive zone coverage was great all night, we kept Maine on their heels all night long and they simply couldn't handle it. I think Maine came in thinking they could skate with BC, they could not be more wrong. See, no team can try to outskate BC and try to take it to them, BC is to skilled and to fast for everyone else. The best thing BC did all night was wearing down the Black Bears. By the third period, you could just see players like Matt Flynn, Spencer Abbot, and Joey Diamond giving up because they were to tired from trying to chase down the Eagles all night. Coach York said after the game "I thought it was our most solid game in a long time". That's saying a lot, and I couldn't agree more with Coach.

Why the Eagles won

1. BC was all over the Bears. BC did a better job of taking it to an opponent today then I have seen them do in a long time. Maine could not handle it. When you play BC, you need a good goaltender. Maine's goalies were horrendous tonight, letting in five goals on twenty seven shots.

2. BC's PK was great. Another shorthanded goal for Chris Kreider was the highlight of what was a great night for Coach Cav's Penalty Kill. Steve Whitney and Bill Arnold were also great in holding the Black Bears to 0/4 on the PP.

3. Parker Milner and the defense were great. As I said earlier, the defensive zone coverage was very good tonight, as Maine had very few grade A chances on Parker Milner. When Maine did have those good chances, Milner continued his great play as of late, and shut down the Black Bears.

4. BC is just flat out better. I apologize for being so wrong on Maine. Maine really struggled all night largely because of BC's outstanding play but also because of their awful goaltending.

Problems

1. None really, but Chris Kreider needs to stay out of the box !

Next Game- Saturday night @ UMass. I will be traveling out there so I will have Twitter updates for you.

Player of the Game- Steve Whitney. Steve has really been playing great as of late to lead the Eagles.

Countdown- T minus eight days till Terriers invade Conte.
