Competition Over ?

With the 62nd addition of the greatest tradition in college sports just around the corner, Coach York made a pretty surprising announcement this afternoon when he stated freshman Thatcher Demko would start in Monday's opening round game vs archrival Boston University. Coach was quoted saying "we went with a straight rotation but now we're going with the hot goalie". Thatcher has started three straight games after Brian Billett struggled vs the Terriers two weeks ago. Say what you want about BC having a great offense and a strong group of defenseman but Thatcher is 7-1-2 in games in which he has started.

Personally, I think this job is all Demko's and it would take some sort of catastrophe for him to give it up. He's gone to places like Minnesota, UNH, BU, and come out with some real quality victories. Don't forget he is the youngest player in college hockey so, he deserves a lot of credit for what he has accomplished.

I remember a particular freshman from two years ago that had a pretty solid performance and won MVP, but anyways, that's a story for another day.

Go Eagles.
