Eagles open season with win vs Sparty

Tonight marked the 89th season of hockey at Boston College, and it started with a bang. The Eagles defeated the Michigan State Spartans 5-2 at the Icebreaker Invitational in North Dakota. The Eagles were led by JR Chris Kreider (1 goal, 1 assist), and a heard of other scores including Sophomore Patrick Brown, Senior Barry Almedia, Senior Paul Carey, and JR Steve Whitney. One observation I made about tonights game is that Eagles need to stay out of the box. When playing better teams, taking a lot of bad penalties will come back to haunt them. When you kill off four penalties, it means your PK is pretty good. The Eagles had the number six ranked kill in the nation last year, second in the league to that other school on Comm Ave. The Eagles will need to keep it up as they get either the 3rd ranked Sioux or the Falcons of Air Force, also an NCAA team from a year ago. Also, for one game at least it seems that Parker Millner seemed to answer some critics by stopping 17 of 19 shots. The game tomorrow will be on at 8:30 ET on Fox College sports. GO EAGLES
