Previewing the Michigan State Spartans

It's here folks ! We are at our first preview of the season and it starts with the Eagles' first opponent, the Michigan State Spartans !

Last season, was another tough year for the Spartans. They missed the NCAA's for the fourth straight season. The bad season meant the end of the line for Head Coach Rick Colmely, as Comley stepped down after his ninth season at the helm for the Spartans. Tomorrow's game will be the first for new Head Coach and former CCHA Commissioner Tom Anastos.

Players to watch out for- Brett Perlini (leading scorer from a season ago), Derek Grant (25 assist a season ago, led team in points), Captain Corey Krugg.

Series Notes- MSU leads BC in the all time series 6-17-1.

Polls- Michigan State is not currently ranked in the USCHO Men's Division 1 poll. Boston College is ranked # 5.

Recent Results- Michigan State has played one exhibition game so far, beating Western Ontario 6-1. Michigan State's leading scorer was Greg Wolfe (2)

Prediction- Eagles 4 Spartans 2.

  2. matt this a good question i simply do not know why. He clearly struggled tonight with a -2 plus minus. He is one of veteran dman, and is playing with Issac Macleod who is just a sophomore. The coaches clearly want to spread around Dumoulin, Cross, and Wey because they are better and more experienced then Shea,Alber, and Macleod. I do not believe it has a lot to do with the skill of Pat Wey, more to spread around the experience and talent.
