BC defenseman Steven Santini was the final cut from the United States World Jr Championship team this evening as the roster was finalized with 13 forwards, 7 defensemen, and 3 goalies. US GM Jim Johannson stated "We wanted to see where Steve was after he got his cast removed and it's clear he needs more time before he's ready to play".
Obviously, tough blow for Steve and the US team because we all know how much he could have helped them contain Connor McDavid but apparently, his wrist just wouldn't allow him to do that. He will be able to take the next couple days off and gear up for BC's January 2nd game vs Brown @ the Dartmouth holiday tournament. BC's defense will be him, Matheson, Savage, Doherty, Linell, and probably Jeke.
Go Eagles.
Don't get me wrong, Steve Santini is a great defenseman and Team USA will miss his presence just as BC has over the past two months. What nobody talks about is the job Hanifin and McCoshen have been doing on the blue line. The freshman and sophomore have played very well together and have done an amazing job. They will do the same thing in the WJC. Let's support them!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you but I think McCoshen has been a tad better than Hanifin so far this season. His progress from the Lowell game to the Michigan game has been unreal
